Products

During more than five years working in MapInfo-related software development environment, KSF Ltd. has learned the most common spatial data processing tasks that may be automated. Several MapInfo add-on products were designed and developed to fit up the market needs.

Router Engine
Polygons of Influence Generator

Polygons of Unique Id Generator
Isolines and Regions Generator
Enhanced Drawing Tool
Convex/Concave Hull Generator

Network Analyzer

   Router Engine

Client-server engine to perform maybe the most popular type of spatial queries - 'find the shortest/fastest route between two points'.

Picture on the right shows the example of route search. Portion of street network is presented by thin black segments. Green triangle is a start point, and red diamonds are targets of the routes. Found routes are shown in thick purple lines.

Of course, there are a lot of routing software, and most of the existing packages are somehow compatible with one of the most popular desktop GIS, and simply new engine which does the same job would not hit the market much. But KSF's Router Engine in addition to standard 'find route' task performs advanced tasks such as 'find all street segments within certain driving distance', 'build isolines/regions of reachability', 'build regions of equal reachability', and others. One-way street, turn restrictions, and speed limits also may be taken into account.

The retail price of the KSF's
Router Engine is $890 US.

   Polygons of Influence Generator

This is KSF's implementation of Thiessen Polygons, or Voronoi Diagrams, generation utility, which works with MapInfo for Windows. The product is the part of KSF's product line which uses poverful Delanau triangulation technology implemented by KSF to achieve highest performance and reusability of triangulation results.

Picture on the right shows Polygons of Influence generated for a set of points. Points are shown as black symbols, polygon are colored in different colors, and triangulation network is shown by dashed lines.

The retail price of the KSF's Polygons of Influence Generator is $390 US.

   Polygons of Unique Id Generator

Often you need to create boundaries around a set of points, based on points' attribute, such as sales manager associated with the object. This task is similar to clustering, except for knowing the criteria that puts points in one cluster. Generated boundaries may be used if original do not exist or not available, too complex and detailed, or created under influence of close but different criteria.

Picture on the right shows Polygons of Unique ID generated for a set of points. Points with different IDs presented with different symbols - squares, circles and triangles. Polygons are shaded with different colors - red, green and blue.

The retail price of the KSF's Polygons of Unique ID Generator is $390 US.

   Isolines and Regions Generator

This product creates the lines of constant value of some phenomenal, such as temperature, altitude, population density, etc. Values of the phenomena are measured in a set of input points. It is possible to build regions with certain ranges of values, such as 55-60-65-70 degrees. As two products presented above, this one uses triangulation technique also, to approximate 3-D surface.

Picture on the right shows the example of temperature map created from a set of temperature measurements shown as gray points. Regions are shaded based on temperature value - yellow is low and red is high value.

The retail price of the KSF's Isolines and Regions Generator is $450 US.

   Enhanced Drawing Tool

The utility to draw polylines/polygons in MapInfo. The program adds new 'Draw Polyline' and 'Draw Polygon' buttons to the 'Drawing' button pad, which provide the user with tools similar to standard MapInfo's, but with much more features, such as snap to line/intersection, cursor control by keyboard, segment lock to certain direction and/or length, pause/resume drawing.

Picture at right shows the screen-shot of object which is being drawn with Enhanced Drawing Tool. Yellow tooltip displays the current drawing mode, which is snap to intersection, and current length of the segment, which is updated dynamically while you move the cursor.

The retail price of the KSF's Enhanced Drawing Tool is $130 US.

   Convex/Concave Hull Generator

This product creates a polygon which approximates the outside edge for a set of points. It may be 'convex hull' which is the convex polygon containing all input points, or 'concave' polygon which tries to follow the most 'outer' points.

Yellow polygon at right is the convex hull, when green polygon is the concave hull. Note that convex hull is unique for the set of points, when creation of concave hull is empiric task.

The retail price of the KSF's Convex/Concave Hull Generator is $150 US.

   Network Analyzer

Builds visual network representing connections between pairs of point objects. Physical nature of connection may be different, such as existance of bus route, or non-zero sales volume.

Picture on the right shows the example of such network. As you see, links are be-directional, which means that the utility allows to analyze the direction of the phenomena represented by the arc.

The retail price of the KSF's Network Analyzer is $130 US.
